Macomb Reservation State Park is a state park in the Town of Schuyler Falls in Clinton County , New York , United States . The park covers 600 acres (2.4 km²) and is located on the Salmon River , north of Adirondack Park and about 3 km west of the village of Schuyler Falls .

history

Macomb Reservation State Park was created from an area that was originally used as a Military Training Facility. New York State acquired 6,372 acres (25.79 km²) from the federal government in April 1947, 600 acres of which were transferred to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in 1968 . The rest of the area is used by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for reforestation.

The park extends on the hill north of the Salmon River and above the associated Davis Lake . The area is delimited with the measuring cord and is therefore clearly divided at right angles. The state park has a swimming beach, sports field, and picnic areas. In addition, there are leisure activities, a nature trail offers educational opportunities and there are opportunities for fishing, boating, a campsite, and in winter the opportunity to go skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice skating.
