Macrinius regulus

Macrinius Regulus (his prenomen is not known) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

A military diploma proves that Regulus was prefect of the fleet stationed on the middle Danube ( Classis Flavia Pannonica ) on August 11, 146 . Neviomagus is indicated in the diploma as his origin .

  1. According to Werner Eck , Peter Weiß , Neviomagus is probably one of the places with the name Noviomagus ; Regulus presumably came from Ulpia Noviomagus Batavorum , today's Nijmegen.
  2. According to Werner Eck, Peter Weiß was probably Marcus Macrinius Vindex , Praetorian prefect under Marcus Aurelius , a relative of Regulus, possibly his brother.
