Madagascar Oil

Madagascar Oil SA is a Houston, Texas-based company engaged in the expansion, exploration and production of petroleum in Madagascar . It is a subsidiary of Madagascar Oil Limited, Bermuda.

The company was founded in 2004 by the Canadian Sam Malin , the South African Michael Smith and the Australian Robert Nelson . Madagascar Oil owns the Tsimiroro (estimated 3 billion barrels) and Bemolanga (estimated 16.6 billion barrels) oil sands fields. There is a cooperation with the French mineral oil company Total . The company was traded on the London AIM exchange but was suspended from trading in late December 2010. The main owners include Touradji Capital Management, RAB Capital, Persistency Group, Plainfield, Blakeney Group, the John Paul De Joria Family Trust and Grafton Resources.
