Mae-Wan Ho

Mae-Wan Ho (born November 12, 1941 - March 24, 2016 ) was a biologist and activist from Hong Kong . Ho is the director of the Institute of Science in Society (I-SIS), which she co-founded.

Life

Ho has a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry (1964) and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry (1968) from Hong Kong University .

After completing her doctorate, Ho did research in the USA (USC and UCSD) for several years before joining the University of London in 1972. From 1976 to 2000 she was a lecturer and reader at the Open University .

Since the 1990s, Ho made a name for herself as an anti-genetic engineering activist. I-SIS is with publications in the fields of Global Warming , Green Genetic Engineering , Homeopathy , Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Water Memory . Ho rejects the synthetic theory of evolution . For some of their views, Ho and I-SIS have been criticized by other scholars.

Ho has been an advisor to the Cartagena Protocol since 2001 .
