Maeda Yugure

Maeda Yūgure ( Japanese 前 田 夕 暮 , real name: Maeda Hirozō 前 田 洋 造 , also in the spelling: 前 田 洋 三 ; * July 27, 1883 in Hadano, Kanagawa Prefecture ; † April 20, 1951 ) was a Japanese poet. His eldest son Maeda Tōru (1914-1984) was also a poet and Tanka poet.

A native of Kanagawa Prefecture, Maeda attended Naka-gun Middle School, which he dropped out without graduating. Together with Wakayama Bokusui he joined the artist group Shazensō-sha founded by Onoe Saishū . His Shūkaku Tanka collection , which appeared in 1910, identified him as an important representative of the Japanese naturalistic school alongside Wakayama Bokusui. In 1932 the collection of poems Suigen chitai ( 水源 地 帯 ) was published.

With Kitahara Hakushū Maeda founded the magazine Nikkō , he also published the literary magazines Shika ( 詩歌 ) and Chijō Junrei .
