Maestlin is a small, bowl-shaped moon crater near the eastern edge of Oceanus Procellarum . To the east is the Encke crater and to the northeast is the Kepler crater . Southeast of Maestlin lie the remains of Maestlin R .

A system of lunar grooves , the Rimae Maestlin, runs south-west in the radial direction to the crater .
