Maetani Koremitsu
Maetani Koremitsu ( Japanese 前 谷 惟 光 ; * December 8, 1917 in Tokyo ; † October 23, 1974 ) was a Japanese manga artist .
Before he was drafted to the front in Burma in mainland China in 1939 , he had worked as a propaganda artist for Tōhō .
After the war he turned to drawing comics. In 1951 he brought out Kasei no hachi-chan ( 火星 の 八 ち ゃ ん ) in the magazine Shōnen Shōjo Yomiru ( 少年 少女 読 売 ) his first manga. It was followed by Toppi Hakase ( ト ッ ピ 博士 ). In 1955 he started the popular comic series Robatto Santōhei ( ロ ボ ッ ト 三等 兵 ) in the magazine Shōnen Club , which he conceived as a plea against war.
