The Mafia K'1 Fry is a collective consisting of French rappers from the Val-de-Marne department .
history
In 1994 the two rappers Rohff and Manu Key founded the crew called Mafia K'1 Fry. Shortly afterwards, the groups 113 and Ideal J , as well as the rapper Bakar joined them. In 1996, Karlito and the crew Intouchable, the last new artists for the time being, joined the rap collective. The name Mafia K-1 Fry, which translates African Mafia ( africain ., In the French youth language verlan to cain-fri , then stylized k'un-fri ), the collective was in a freestyle Concert: Tu peux pas test avec la Mafia K'1 Fry . As the band name suggests, all members have African roots.
1997 appeared with the EP Les liens sacrés the first foretaste of the upcoming albums. Expectations were high as almost all crew members had already released successful solo albums. Two years later followed the first long player with the album Légendaire , which also helped the last members to break through their solo careers. In 2000 the mafia continued to grow. With Mista Flo , Popa, OGB , Jessy Money and Selim du 9.4 , who had been in the group's circle of friends before, more MCs were now officially part of it.
After successful years as a solo artist, the collective reunited and again had success with the second album La cerise sur le ghetto . The album sold thousands of times all over France and underlined the skills of the band. But after the recent success, Rohff, the head of the crew, announced his resignation from the group. It was said from both camps that they had separated amicably and are now going their separate ways. With him, Bakar and Popa also left the group.
In early 2007 Mafia released their third album called Jusqu'à la mort , which appeared in the top 10 of the French album charts. Due to its success, the collective announced a re-edition on which, to everyone's surprise, Rohff can also be heard.
In the novel The Time of the Restless by Karine Tuil , a verse and the refrain of the song Guerre are quoted.
