Rim'K
Rim'K (* 21st June 1978 as Abdelkarim Brahmi Benalla in Vitry-sur-Seine ) is a French rapper of Algerian descent. He is a member of group 113 and founded his own label Frenesik .
Life
Rim'K was born in the southern Paris suburb of Vitry-sur-Seine , but his family is originally from Barbacha in Algeria . Rim'K grew up under the influence of classical Arabic music, but soon became enthusiastic about hip-hop as well. At the age of 14 he gained his first experiences as a rapper in Vitry and Orly together with AP and Mokobé and caught the eye with catchy beats and texts about life in the banlieue behind the common cliches. Soon they joined the formation Mafia K'1 Fry and in 1996 founded the group 113, named after the house number of a building in Camille Groult (district of Vitry-sur-Seine), where the three spent a lot of time in their youth.
In 1997 her first EP Ni barreaux, ni barrières, ni frontières was released , two years later her first album Les princes de la ville , which sold 450,000 copies and made her widely known. The second album 113 fout la merde (2002) was only a moderate success and was replaced in 2003 by the remix album 113 dans l'urgence , which had a major commercial success.
In the meantime, Rim'K, besides working with 113 and Mafia K'1 Fry, had finished enough lyrics to record his first solo album: L'enfant du pays (2004). In addition to pure rap pieces, this record also features collaborations with Arab singers, e.g. B. Cheb Khaled ( L'enfant du pays ) and Cheba Zahouania ( Rachid System ). Further single releases were Boozillé and Le couloir de la mort .
Together with his colleagues Mooch and Demon, Rim'K founded the Frenesik label in the same year in order to also get started as a producer and beatmaker. But he is still under contract with Sony.
In 2005 113 got together again and recorded the album 113 degrés . This not only contains raptitles like Trop puissant , but also slower songs, e.g. Sometimes under the influence of African folklore or R'n'B.
At the end of 2005, UMP MP François Grosdidier filed a lawsuit against seven rap groups, including 113, on the grounds that their texts would stir up racism and "hatred against France" and thus jointly responsible for the riots in the Paris suburbs in summer 2005 would be. The proceedings were discontinued due to a formal error, including the lack of support from then Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin and fierce resistance from left-wing politicians. These accused Grosdidier of racism and reintroduction of censorship.
Regardless, the album 113 degrés was a great success and was awarded gold in early 2006 . In November 2006 the sampler Illégal radio was released , a collaboration between the artists under contract with Frenesik, including DJ Cream, Sefyu and Oxmo Puccino .
In 2007 two works by Rim'K appeared, his second solo album Famille nombreuse and, together with Mafia K'1, Fry Jusqu'à la mort . Both albums were placed in the top 10 of the French album charts.
In 2009 Rim'K raps with Azad on the track La Vies Nous A Balafré on the Franco-German Bodensee Records sampler La Connexion .
In 2012 he made the track Von Frankfurt bis Paris with the German rapper Haftbefehl on his album Kanackis.
