Magda Heyken House

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Magda-Heyken-Haus is a local history museum in the Flecken Hage in East Frisia. It was named after the local historian and former teacher Magda Heyken (1895–1972) and was her previous home (built in 1959). The Magda Heyken House was opened in 1986 and houses the archive with a rich collection of historical files, documents and photos. Paintings from Hage and the surrounding area as well as a library and a local collection are also housed here. A special piece of jewelery is a true-to-original model that Hage shows in 1872 and was created by the former municipal director Udo Backer (1924–1988) according to old floor plans and pictures. Today the collection of the local history museum is constantly expanded by a volunteer team.
