Magdanly ( Russian Магданлы , formerly Gowurdak / Говурдак ) is a city in eastern Turkmenistan . Magdanly is located in the Lebap province and had a population of almost 65,000 in 2009.

The city is located at the foothills of the Kugitangtau Mountains and is about 260 kilometers southeast of the city of Turkmenabad . The city is connected to Atamurat and Termez by a railway line . There is a fertilizer industry in Magdanly, and sulfur is also extracted in the city.

The population rose from just over 23,000 in 1991 to almost 65,000 in 2009. In 2002, the city previously known as Gowurdak was renamed Magdanly.
