The Köýtendag Range or Kugitangtau ( Russian Кугитангтау ) is a mountain range on the border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan .

The Köýtendag forms the southwest continuation of the Baisuntau . It extends over a length of about 100 km in NE-SW direction. Its highest point is the 3139  m high Aýrybaba . The Köýtendag ends in the south at the valley of the Amudarja . The transition in the north to Baisuntau is at the gorge of the Sherobad river west of Boysun .

The mountains are made of limestone . There are also karst phenomena . The mountains are criss-crossed by several gorges, including the Dareidere and Tutlidara. In Hodschapil (Turkmenistan) there are dinosaur tracks from the Upper Jurassic.

In the foothills thrive ephemeral . Above that, xerophytes form a subtropical mountain heather. Pistachios and sparse juniper growth can be found in the mountain steppe.

The Köýtendag nature reserve has been located in the highest part of the mountains on the Turkmen side since 1986 .
