Maggiore and Minore

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maggiore (maddʒ'o: re, ital. Greater; fr. Majeur ) refers to the Tongeschlecht Dur (indicated by the large third ) Minore ( ital. , Less than fr. Mineur is minor (due to the small third)).

The designation Minore in trios of marches, dances, Scherzi, in rondos or variations that are in a major key indicates that a change is made to the minor variant of this major key. The re-entry into the major gender key is often announced by Maggiore .

Correspondingly, in a minor composition , Maggiore denotes the transition to the major key of the same name and minor the return to the main key.
