Magnús Einarsson

Magnús Einarsson (* 1098 , † September 30, 1148 ) was a bishop of Skálholt in southern Iceland .

It was elected after the death of Þorlákur Runólfsson in 1133 and consecrated on October 28, 1134 by Össur, the archbishop of Lund in Sweden.

Skálholt flourished under his aegis. He amassed fortunes and bought great estates, including the entire Westman Islands .

Hítardalur farm (2006)

When he came back from a trip to Vestfirðir in 1148 , he stopped in Hítardalur to attend a festival. He got caught in a major fire in which between 70 and 80 people died and was also killed.
