The magnetic Point is a rocky headland on the northeast end of the Laurens Peninsula Island Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It marks the southeast boundary of Sydney Cove .
The headland is named after the British seal hunter Magnet , with whom Peter Kemp discovered Heard Island on November 27, 1833.
