Magpie Island is an island in the Thames in England near Aston in Berkshire and Medmenham in Buckinghamshire . The island is upriver from Hurley Lock and is part of Berkshire.
It is believed that the shipping canal originally ran through the current branch of the river. This passage was greatly narrowed with eel traps. In the 18th century, the island was owned by Culham Court .
