content
Momo is the princess of the land of Fenarinarsa, the "land of dreams in heaven". The characters from fairy tales and legends live there. But this country is in danger of drifting away from the earth, as the people there forget the fairy tales. The royal couple sends their daughter to earth. There she is staying with a young childless couple and is accompanied by a dog, a monkey and a bird. In everyday life she is a young teenager, but in order to help people with their hopes and dreams, she turns into an adult. This has a job that fits the respective situation. Whenever Momo has made someone happy, a jewel appears in the crown of Fenarinarsa. When twelve jewels have appeared, the land has returned to earth.
analysis
According to Patrick Drazen, the series represents a version of the Japanese story Momotaro in which a boy is sent to Earth by extraterrestrial parents, where he is accompanied by a dog, a monkey and a bird and helps people. The transformation of the character Minky Momo into an adult person represents the desire of young girls to ignore the “you're too young for that” of the elderly.
