KK Production Reed ( Japanese 株式会社 プ ロ ダ ク シ ョ ン リ ー ド , Kabushiki-gaisha Purodakushon Rīdo ) is a Japanese animation studio based in Suginami , Tokyo , Japan . It is known mainly for its Magical Girl - Anime , such as Maho no Princess Minky Momo . It was founded by Toshihiko Sato along with a few others on December 24, 1975 under the name Ashi Productions ( 葦 プ ロ ダ ク シ ョ ン ). On November 1, 2007 it changed its name from Ashi Productions to Production Reed , where reed is the English translation of ashi (reed).
history
In the years prior to its first name change, the studio had close ties with Bandai and had been financially tied to the company since October 2001. Since January 2006 the studio called Ashi Productions maintained close relationships with Wiz . In this cooperation, the studio initially took on commissioned work for its new business partner. In August 2006 the studio became a subsidiary of Wiz and operated as a special department in the fields of animation and rights management. On November 1, 2007, the company was renamed Production Reed and Takeichi Hongo took over the management of the company.
