Rainbow Days ( Japanese 虹 色 デ イ ズ , Nijiiro Deizu ) is a manga series by Minami Mizuno . It has been released in Japan since 2012 and has been adapted as an anime television series. The work can be classified into the genres Shōjo , Comedy and Romanticism.

The series tells of the everyday life of the four school friends Natsuki Hashiba ( 羽 柴 夏 樹 ), Tomoya Matsunaga ( 松 永 智 也 ), Keiichi Katakura ( 片 倉 恵 一 ) and Tsuyoshi Naoe ( 直 江 剛 ) - especially about their relationships. The romantic Natsuki is often unlucky in love and chases after his beloved. The playboy Matsunaga, on the other hand, approaches the girls very directly until he realizes that he has seriously fallen in love. Behind the cheerful facade of Keiichi hides a sadist who is interested in older women. The only one of the four with a steady girlfriend is the clever Otaku Tsuyoshi.

The series was published on January 13, 2012 (issue 2/2012) in the magazine Bessatsu Margaret of the Shueisha publishing house . This brought out the chapters in 16 anthologies. The series was completed in March 2017. The volumes sold about 130,000 times each. In 2016, the series was nominated for the 40th Kōdansha Manga Prize in the Shōjo category.

In Kazé a French translation appeared in the manga. A complete German translation was published by Egmont Manga from October 2016 to April 2019 .

Anime adaptation

In 2016, Production Reed directed an anime adaptation of the manga series, directed by Tetsuro Amino . The main author was Aki Itami , the character design was created by Miyako Nishida and the artistic direction was by Satoshi Shibata . From January 10 to June 26, 2016, the 24 episodes, each 15 minutes long, were broadcast by TV Tokyo and, with an offset, by the channels Yomiuri TV , Sapporo TV , Chūkyō TV and BS11 in Japan. By streaming the anime of was Funimation for US, on the platform Anime Digital Network for French and PopCorn TV and YouTube released for Italian viewers.
