Cutie Honey ( Japanese キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー , Kyūtī Hanī ), also Cutey Honey , is a series of manga series from the Japanese mangaka Go Nagai about a girl named Honey Kisaragi. A mysterious man gives her the opportunity to transform herself into different fighters to fight demons.
content
Honey Kisaragi is a normal Catholic school girl. One day her father is murdered by the organization Pantherklaue . After his death, Honey learns that she is actually an android built by her father with the ability to create solid matter out of air. With the call "Honey Flash" she turns into a superhero who can use her skills to the full. While she now wants to take revenge on the organization, their two heads, the sisters Panther Zora and Jill, are after her. Zora and Jill want Honey's abilities. Prince Twilight (who also belongs to the panther claw) has fallen in love with her.
Manga
The manga appeared from October 1, 1973 to April 1, 1974 in the manga magazine Shōnen Champion published by Akita Shoten . The individual chapters also appeared in two anthologies ( Tankōbon ). At the same time, more of Ken Ishikawa appeared in the magazine Bōken-ō , as well as one drawn by Masatoshi Nagajima in the television magazine TV Land .
Gō Nagai drew a sequel (with the slightly modified Japanese title Cutie ハ ニ ー ) published between July 8, 1992 and April 7, 1998 in Spa! published by Fusōsha.
The later manga Cutie Honey Flash was also published in two versions: one drawn by Yukako Iisaka between April 26, 1997 (issue 3/1997) to February 23, 1998 (issue 4/1998) in Shōjo magazine Ciao , and one by Kazushi Sasaki made drawings in the Kodomo magazine Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic (issues 4/1997 to 2/1998).
From 2001 to July 29, 2003 another manga series appeared in the Weekly Manga Action by Go Nagai under the name Cutie Honey Tennyo Densetsu ( キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー 天 女 伝 説 , dt. "The legend of the angel / sky girl Cutie Honey").
From June 22, 2004 (issue 14/2004) to February 28, 2006 (issue 6/2006) the manga Cutie Honey Seed ( キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー SEED , Kyūtī Hanī SEED ) by Komugi Hoshino ( 星野 小麦 , Hoshino Komugi ) appeared in Young Champion . In 2005 the manga Cutie Honey a Go Go! ( キューティーハニーa GO GO! , Kyūtī Hani A GO GO! ) In Tokusatsu Ace with the drawings of Shimpei Ito ( 伊藤伸平 , Ito Shimpei ) and the script by Hideaki Anno .
Later one-shots or works comprising only a few chapters were Cutie Honey vs Abashiri Ikka ( キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー vs あ ば し り 一家 ) by Gō Nagai 2009 in Shōnen Champion, Honey VS ( ハ ニ ー VS ) by Masaki Segawa and Ōedo Honey ( 大江 戸ハ ニ ー ) by Masakazu Yamaguchi both in 2012 in the Grand Jump, as well as cutie Honey tai Devilman Lady ( キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー 対 デ ビ ル マ ン ン レ デ ィ ー ) in 2013 in the Champion Red Ichigo as a crossover with Devilman Lady , another Nagai work.

Cutie Honey
In 1973, the Toei Animation studio produced an anime television series based on the manga. Directed by Tomoharu Katsumata , the character design was created by Eiji Itō, Mataji Urata and Shingo Araki. The series was broadcast from October 13, 1973 to March 30, 1974 by the Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi .
It was broadcast on French television by the channels Mangas and TF1.

The music for the series was composed by Takeo Watanabe. The opening credits are Cutey Honey ( キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー ) by Yōko Maekawa, Yogiri no Honey ( 夜霧 の ハ ニ ー ), also by Yōko Maekawa , is used for the credits .
Shin Cutie Honey
The animated series received several remakes in the form of television series and films. 1994–1996 the OVA Shin Cutie Honey ( 新 ・ キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー , Shin Kyūtī Hanī , German "The New Cutie Honey") was animated with eight episodes.
Cutey Honey / Cutie Honey Flash
In 1997 a 39-part anime series was created under the title Cutie Honey F or Cutie Honey Flash ( キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー
A 38-minute film of the same name was released on July 12, 1997 as a conclusion to this series. In contrast to the original series, however, the plot was reproduced here as a Shōjo version. The TV series was animated and produced by the same creative team that had previously worked on Sailor Moon .

Cutie Honey Universe
The latest series Cutie Honey Universe was created in 2018 by Studio Production Reed , directed by Akitoshi Yokoyama, on the occasion of Nagai's 50th anniversary. The 12 episodes were broadcast on AT-X from April 8 to June 23, 2018 , as well as on Tokyo MX , J: COM TV , Tochigi TV and BS11 with an offset of up to a week .
Anime on Demand streamed the series as a simulcast with German subtitles .

Real life series and films
In 2004, Hideaki Anno adapted the work as a real film. It was released in Japanese cinemas on May 29, 2004. The eponymous protagonist was played by Eriko Satō . The theme song was sung by Kumi Kōda .
In 2007 another real-life filming followed as a series ( dorama ) under the name Cutie Honey: The Live ( キ ュ ー テ ィ ー ハ ニ ー THE LIVE , Kyūtī Hanī The Live ) with the gravure idol Mikie Hara in the lead role.
Another movie called Cutie Honey: Tears hit theaters on October 1, 2016. This was directed by Asai Takeshi, with Mariya Nishiuchi playing the main role .
