Sheikh Mahmood Madani , Arabic محمود المدني, Maḥmūd Madanī (born March 3, 1964 ) is an Indian Islamic scholar and politician. He is general secretary of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind , one of the most important Islamic organizations in India , and a member of the Indian parliament .

Life

He was on 13 October 2007 one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( english A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (Engl. "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... ").

In 2009 he was included in the list of the 500 Most Influential Muslims by the Prince al-Walid-bin-Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center of Jordan .
