Mahmut Kâmil Pasha

Mahmut Kâmil Pascha (* 1880 in Aleppo , † 1922 in Istanbul ) was an Ottoman general and commander in the Balkan Wars and on the Caucasus Front .

He graduated from the Military Academy in 1902 and was then assigned to the 5th Army. During the Balkan Wars he was the fortification commander in Shkodra . After his position fell he became commander of the 1st, 5th and 4th corps.

When the First World War broke out, Mahmut Kâmil Pascha was employed in the War Ministry. On December 22, 1914, he was promoted to general and appointed commander of the 2nd Army . On February 17, 1915 he was appointed commander of the 3rd Army . He stayed in this position for a year. In June 1916 he was ordered back to the War Ministry. Towards the end of the war he was the commander of the 5th Army for five months. He resigned from the army in June 1922 due to health problems. A few months later he died in Istanbul.
