Mail2Fax

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mail2Fax is a technology that enables faxes to be sent via e-mail . To do this, the user sends an email with the fax attached to a special gateway , which then sends the document as a fax to the desired number.

Mail2Fax has the proliferation of broadband access such as DSL and its wireless connectivity to PCs increasingly user found because the the classic fax from the computer used fax modems and ISDN cards , which used mostly simultaneously for the narrowband - dial-up - Internet access were used , are no longer connected to the circuit-switched landline network for many participants or are no longer available at all.

With the increasing unbundling of broadband access and in view of the migration process from traditional landline - telephony through to on data connections based IP telephony as well as due to the cheaper nascent mobile phone use are in an increasing number of households also no suitable reliable connectivity for these devices more available .

Many UMS services provide Mail2Fax, but there are also providers who specialize exclusively in this.

The process can also be reversed and is known as Fax2mail .
