Fax2Mail

Fax2Mail (also faxtomail ) stands for a technology that makes it possible to receive faxes on a virtual fax number and to have them sent by email to a predefined email address. The fax is sent to an intermediary fax server , which forwards the content as a graphic file to the recipient by email.

Since the Federal Network Agency only allows the use of geographical landline numbers for Fax2Mail if the Fax2Mail customer has his or her residence or company headquarters in the respective local network , non-geographical national 032 subscriber numbers are now widely used as virtual fax service numbers in Germany .

There are various providers of Fax2Mail on the market, with some Unified Messaging services already providing Fax2Mail as a free basic service. In addition, modern DSL routers , such as individual models of the Fritz! Box , can be configured so that they forward incoming faxes as e-mail.

The reverse process is also possible and is known as Mail2Fax .

Fax2Mail offers various other advantages compared to receiving conventional faxes. The incoming fax, which is often received in PDF format , could e.g. B. can be automatically provided with a password protection so that confidential content is additionally protected. QR codes contained in the faxes can be read out and their content transferred as text to the e-mail. This allows additional information to be evaluated and incoming fax messages to be automatically organized in subfolders, for example according to selected criteria.
