Main Roads Western Australia (also short Main Roads , before Main Roads Department ) is the road and traffic authority in Western Australia , Australia . It is responsible for the maintenance, expansion and operation of the nationwide road network.

The agency is responsible for around 13% of the state's road network with a total length of 18,500 km. The remaining 131,000 km are operated and maintained by the Local Government Areas or the national road construction authority.

In 2011 the agency had a total budget of AU $ 1,200 million and 1070 employees.
