Main Street is an underground subway station in Toronto . It is on the Bloor-Danforth Line of the Toronto Subway , at the intersection of Danforth Avenue and Main Street. The station, which has side platforms, is used by an average of 24,130 passengers every day (2015).

There are transfer options to seven bus lines and to tram line 506, whereby the turning loop goes around the station building. About 350 meters south is Danforth Station on GO Transit's Lakeshore East Line .

The station opened on May 11, 1968, along with the Woodbine - Warden section . Main Street was the main street in the suburb of East Toronto, which was incorporated into Toronto in 1908. Unlike the rest of stations and stops the Toronto Transit Commission remained Street in station names get to avoid the hypothetical misconception that it is the "central station" here (main station) handle the subway.
