Kipling (Toronto Subway)
Kipling is an underground subway station in Toronto . It is the western terminus of the Bloor-Danforth Line of the Toronto Subway and is located on St. Albans Road, near the intersection of Bloor Street , Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue. The station has a central platform and is used by an average of 52,930 passengers every day (2015).
The Kipling station is in a low-density industrial area, under power lines and near a substation . Nevertheless, it is very popular because it is designed as a transfer hub for commuter traffic. The bus terminal is the terminus of ten bus routes, including an express route to Toronto Airport . There are also four park-and-rides with 1488 paid parking spaces and a kiss-and-ride facility available to commuters . Moved a little to the southwest and connected by a pedestrian tunnel, Kipling station is on the Milton Line from GO Transit .
The station opened on November 22, 1980, along with the short section from Islington that ran parallel to the main line of the Canadian Pacific Railway . The Toronto Transit Commission planned a parking facility on a piece of land west of the station, but only a few meters of a connecting tunnel were implemented. An extension of the Bloor-Danforth Line beyond the city limits to Mississauga is also no longer an issue . The bus station has been designed in such a way that in the future it could possibly accommodate a light rail line . GO Transit's station has been in operation since October 27, 1981, when trains first ran on the Milton Line.
