The Mainfest is a folk festival that takes place every summer on the banks of the Main in downtown Frankfurt am Main and which honors the Main as the “lifeline of the city”. The Mainfest lasts four days - from a Friday to the following Monday - and ends each year with a big fireworks display. During the festival, rides, game stands and carousels are open to visitors on the riverbank. One of the traditions of the Main Festival is the “Fischerstechen”, in which two opponents try to push each other off their boats with the help of lances.

The Mainfest goes back to the consecration of the Dreikönigskirche on the banks of the Main on July 23, 1340, on the occasion of which the fishermen in the area celebrated a festival to thank their river.

Public transport (RMV and VGF) is recommended for the journey .
