The Mainpark is a large apartment complex in the Mathildenviertel of Offenbach am Main . The complex consists of five buildings with a total of around 570 apartments.

The Mainpark site is located east of the Hochschule für Gestaltung and is only separated from the nearby banks of the Main by a thoroughfare. It is located in the square Hermann-Steinhäuser-Straße / Austraße / Mainstraße / Karlstraße.

history

The J. Mayer & Sohn tannery and leather factory designed by Hugo Eberhardt was built on the property at the beginning of the 20th century . In 1968 the company's production location was relocated to Worms and two years later the old company building was demolished. Only two sculptures from the portal have been preserved and are now on display in the foyer of the town hall.

Building

The residential park with condominiums was built between 1971 and 1974 and consists of a total of five 14-storey terrace apartment blocks with around 570 condominiums in ten floor plan types, which are primarily oriented towards the Main .

  • The two-part documentary Life - Love - Sin by the author Marco Giacopuzzi and production by Hessischer Rundfunk deals with life in the high-rise estate
  • The musicians and rappers, Haftbefehl and Capo, who are known throughout Germany, grew up in the Mainpark

  • An office building in Offenbach-Kaiserlei bears the name Mainpark Bürogebäude , but is not related to the residential complex
