The Main Valley Bridge Lichtenfels is a 657 m long bridge on the Autobahn 73 .

The bridge lies between the junctions Lichtenfels -Nord and Lichtenfels and spans the Main and Main meadows at a height of approximately 11 m with 18 fields . The flyover has two separate superstructures and was built between 2005 and 2007. The cost was around 17 million euros.

Foundation and substructures

Bored pile foundation abutment north

The abutments and piers are founded on a total of 313 large bored piles with a diameter of 1.2 m and an average length of 11.5 m. Due to the high groundwater level, the pile head foundations are also enclosed by sheet piling . The regular pillars have an octagonal cross-section with a diameter of approximately 2.15 m and a maximum height of approximately 9 m, whereas the river piers are designed as discs.

Superstructures

Bridge field over the Main

The two adjacent superstructures of the prestressed concrete bridge have a continuous beam in the longitudinal direction with a two-web T-beam cross- section as a structural system. The control fields have a constant construction height of 1.7 m, in the fields above the Main the longitudinal beams are haunched. The construction height is a maximum of 3.25 m above the river piers. The prestressing consists of internal tendons . The superstructure of the 18-span bridge has no cross girders in the bearing axes. The total span for the northern superstructure is 656.5 m and is made up of bay widths of 34.0 m, 2 × 42.5 m, 64.0 m, 58.5 m, 45.0 m, 36.0 m, 10 × 31.0 m and 24.5 m. The southern superstructure is just as long, the span widths differ from the northern superstructure due to the oblique span of the Main and are 34.0 m, 42.5 m, 56.0 m, 64.0 m, 2 × 45.0 m, 36 , 0 m, 10 × 31.0 m and 24.5 m.

execution

The bridge was built with a 75 m long propeller armor. First, the western superstructure, starting from the southern abutment, was concreted in sections. Then the advancing scaffolding was shifted transversely behind the northern abutment and the construction of the northern superstructure followed. With the large pillar spacing in the fields above the Main, a central support on steel yokes was installed for the armor, with the auxiliary supports in the area of the river also being deeply founded with bored piles.
