Maipú is the capital of the Maipú department in the Mendoza Province in Argentina . It has 107,000 inhabitants according to the 2010 census and is part of the metropolitan area of the provincial capital Mendoza (Gran Mendoza).

The Köppen-Geiger climate classification system classifies the climate as a desert climate (BWk). The average annual temperature is 15.9 degrees Celsius.
economy
Industrial activities such as tanneries, cold stores, furniture factories and glassworks open up the economic spectrum of the city, which until a few years ago had focused on viticulture. The processing and marketing of olives in major establishments has enabled Maipú to take first place on the province's olive growing map
