Makoto Ozaki

Makoto Ozaki (* 1940 in Japan ) is a Japanese writer and translator .

Life

Ozaki studied Romance Studies at the University of Tokyo until 1961 . He then continued his studies in Paris at the École Pratique des Hautes Études . In 1969 Ozaki received his doctorate from Roland Barthes with a dissertation on the subject of Mallarmé et Hegel : Problèmes theoriques de l'influence . Ozaki learned the German language in Paul Celan's seminars . As a result of an initiative by Peter Szondi and Jacob Taubes , Ozaki moved from Paris to Berlin in 1971, where he taught at the Free University of Berlin until 1991 . Since then, Ozaki has also worked as a translator of works from the French into the German language.
