Maksimir is a municipality in the Croatian capital Zagreb . He is known in Croatia mainly for the Maksimir Stadium , in which Dinamo Zagreb plays its home games, and on the other hand for the Maksimir Park directly opposite the stadium. The park is over a hundred years old and has served as inspiration for many poets and artists. Its flora and fauna are almost unique. It houses the Zagreb Zoo .
The district borders on Gornji Grad in the west, Donji Grad in the southwest, Peščenica-Žitnjak in the south, Dubrava in the east and Podsljeme in the north.
