Malasangre is a funeral doom and sludge band founded in 2000 .

history

Malasangre was founded in Voghera in 2000 by five musicians in the band who act under pseudonyms and are only partly known by name . The band, which comes from a hardcore punk context, released the album A Bad Trip to… via Red Sun in 2002 , the following year the demo Inversus was released , which was re-released in 2005 via NOTHingness REcords . Between the two releases of Inversus , the band participated in the split EP Church of the Flagellation with Bunkur , Stabar Mater and The Sad Sun, which was released via Catacomb Records . Since then, the band has played a number of appearances at various European festivals, including the Ashes to Ashes, Doom to Dust Festival 2004 and the Dutch Doom Days 2007. After the second publication of Inversus , there were no further publications until 2012. With Lux Deerit Soli , another album was released in 2012 via I, Voidhanger Records . In particular, the album published on I, Voidhanger was widely received and praised.

style

The music played by Malasangre is described as difficult to categorize. It is considered a psychedelic crossover of Sludge and Funeral Doom with borrowings from Stoner Doom , Drone Doom and Black Metal . Electric Wizard is often referred to for comparison .

The webzine Doom-Metal.com describes the music as " sick and distorted screams accompanied by slow funeral music". The music is described as “repetitive primitivism and minimalism that allows almost no variation”. The mixture of Funeral Doom and Sludge leaves "little space for melodies, keyboards or solos" at a permanently reduced tempo. What stands out, however, is that the band, despite the reduction, “maintains a high level of inventiveness”.
