history

In 1937 the Road Transport Board was established by decree of the British military authorities. In 1946, as part of the establishment of an independent administrative organization, the authority was subordinated to the "Office of the Registrar and Motor Vehicles" and the authority of the authority was extended to all of Malaysia. Prior to 1937, traffic was only regulated in Lower Perak , Selangor , Negri Sembilan, and Pahang states . The Road Transport Department was established in 1947, and new traffic regulations were finally enacted in 1953. With this act, the 1937 decree was repealed.
