Painter of the Frankfurt Eichellekythos
The painter of the Frankfurt Eichellekythos (English Painter of the Frankfort Acorn ) was an active around 410 BC. Active vase painter of the Attic - red figure style.
It got its emergency name after an acorn lekythos in the Frankfurt Liebieghaus . Thematically and stylistically he is close to the so-called Meidias painter and is counted among his circle. Based on the lekythos in Frankfurt, two more abdominal lechtos are attributed to him: the abdominal lecthos F 2705 in the Berlin Antikensammlung and the abdominal lecthos 91.AE.10 in Malibu, J. Paul Getty Museum . The vase in Frankfurt bears the signature of a potter named Phintias who is only known for this reason and who probably also made the other two vases.
