Maling

In nautical sociolect, a maling describes a painting or drawing attached to ships or boats. For example, malings have the function of mascots on surface units of the navies, on the tower of a submarine or occasionally on merchant ships .

One example is the snorting bull at U 47 of Günther Prien .
