Malstein and Mallinde

The Mallinde is located in the municipality of Berka in front of the Hainich north-east above the village. The old tree is a landmark of the Hainich and has been placed under protection as a natural monument .

Immediately next to the tree is the Malstein , which marks an old court square. Court has been held here by the Thuringian landgraves since the 12th century. A nature trail from the Hainich National Park to the Silberborn spring with the Silberborn linden tree begins at the hiking car park on the Mallinde .
