Ueli Bühler (alpinist, 1961)

Ueli Bühler (born April 29, 1961 in Schwanden ) is a Swiss mountaineer and mountain guide from Schwanden near Sigriswil .

Bühler's achievements in the Alps include the first single-handed ascent of the west face of the Schlossberg in 1981. On August 25 of the same year, he climbed the Heckmair route of the Eiger north face in eight and a half hours and thus held the record for a year the fastest ascent. Other noteworthy tours are the solo trips on the Cassin route on Piz Badile and the direct west pillar on the Wetterhorn , which are mostly performed without self-protection .

In the Himalayas , Bühler managed the first ascent of the southern summit of Nanga Parbat ( 8042  m ) after first ascent of the south-east pillar of the Rupal wall in 1982.
