The Wetterhorn is a mountain peak in the Bernese Alps ( Western Alps ) and has an altitude of 3692 m above sea level. It can be found in the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland above Grindelwald or Rosenlaui .
The Wetterhorn was climbed for the first time on August 31, 1844 by Melchior Bannholzer and Joh. Jaun .
From 1908 to 1915, the first passenger cable car in Switzerland was in operation at the foot of the Wetterhorn : the Wetterhorn elevator .
The term Wetterhorn covers the three peaks of the Wetterhorn, Mittelhorn ( 3704 m , the main summit in terms of height) and Rosenhorn ( 3689 m ).
