The Dossenhütte of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) is 7.2 kilometers as the crow flies southwest of Innertkirchen in the Bernese Oberland and 3.0 kilometers as the crow flies from Rosenlaui at an altitude of 2666 m above sea level. M. It is open from July to September. Accommodation and meals in the hut are possible.
history
The first Dossenhütte was built in 1879. In 1884 it had to be dismantled due to the rapid growth of the Dossengrat Southeast Glacier.
In 1899 the hut was built at its current location with 24 seats. Since then, the roof has been raised a little and the length of the hut has probably been lengthened by almost half. Compared to other buildings, it is a very original hut.
Approach
Coming from Rosenlaui you can reach the Dossenhütte on the blue and white marked footpath in about 4 hours. Above the Rosenlaui glacier gorge , the approach to the Engelhornhütte branches off, which is much easier to reach. The ascent is arduous and dangerous in some places from an altitude of around 2150 m ; the ascent from there takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, although the distance as the crow flies is less than 700 meters.
The descent to Innertkirchen is possible from the Dossenhütte .
summit
The hut is a good starting point for an ascent to the Dossen ( 3143 m ), Ränfenhorn ( 3254 m ), Rosenhorn ( 3688 m ) and the Wetterhorn ( 3690 m ).
