Malte Prietzel

Malte Prietzel (born July 17, 1964 in Wolfsburg ) is a German medieval historian .

Malte Prietzel studied Medieval and Modern History at the Universities of Göttingen and Paris IV ( Sorbonne ) from 1984 to 1988 . In 1992 he received his doctorate in Göttingen with a thesis on The Kalande in southern Lower Saxony. On the origin and development of priestly fraternities in the late Middle Ages . He then became a research assistant at Johannes Helmrath's Chair in Medieval History II at the Humboldt University in Berlin . Here he completed his habilitation in 1999 with the work Guillaume Fillastre the Younger (1400 / 07–1473). Church prince and ducal-Burgundian council . From 2000 to 2005, the Heisenberg scholarship holder taught as a private lecturer. On June 1, 2004, he was appointed adjunct professor. From 2013 to 2015, Prietzel held a teaching professorship for Medieval History at the Historical Institute of the University of Paderborn , and from 2015 to 2019 he was temporary senior advisor there.

Prietzel deals with the medieval history of Western Europe, especially Germany, France and the Netherlands. He pays particular attention to the late Middle Ages . He is also interested in church, religious and denominational history, culture and the history of mentality , the history of international relations, foreign policy, international law, military and war history, military policy, occupation policy, social, political, cultural orders as well as legal and constitutional history , political systems, and justice and police.
