history

The beginnings

Mamut ASA was founded in 1994, but the beginnings go back to 1986 when the company founder Eilert Hanoa founded his first IT company at the age of 15. The company sold software to individuals and small and medium-sized businesses.

On December 1, 1994, Eilert Hanoa founded the company that is now called Mamut under the name Guru Software AS. The core of the business plan were business software systems that were specially developed for smaller companies and that were to be offered as standard software. The system was based on Microsoft Windows and was integrated with Microsoft Office . In 2000 Guru Software took on the name Mamut and was converted into the listed stock corporation (norw. Allmennaksjeselskap) Mamut ASA. In May 2004 Mamut was listed for the first time on the OSESX list (list of shares in public limited companies or foreign companies listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange).

Markets and internationalization

Originally, the Mamut solutions were only available in Norway. The first international activities started in 2001 in the course of the cooperation with Arena Data AB with regard to the sale and distribution of Mamut products in Sweden. Mamut Business Software was presented in Sweden in 2002, in the Netherlands and Great Britain in 2004, in Denmark and Ireland in 2005 and finally in Germany in 2008. Today the company sells its software products in the aforementioned countries and also offers Internet services in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland, Spain and Serbia .

In Germany: Joint venture with Lexware

In 2008 Mamut teamed up with Lexware (now Haufe-Lexware GmbH & Co. KG). The two companies entered into a joint venture through which Mamut and Lexware jointly offer complete software plus services packages to the SME segment in Germany under the name Mamut-Lexware Vertriebs GmbH .

After the takeover by the company Visma, Mamut withdrew from many international markets, including Germany.
