The Manínska tiesňava (German literally Manín gorge ) is an approx. 0.8 km long narrow valley between the places Považská Teplá and Záskalie ( Považská Bystrica district , Trenčín region ) in northwestern Slovakia .

The bottom of the gorge, located at approx. 380–390 m nm, is occupied by the Manínsky creek , which here forms the Mesozoic limestone formations of the Sulov Mountains ( Súľovské vrchy ) between Veľký Manín (891 m nm) and Malý Manín (813 m nm) cuts through from the east. With a width of only a few meters at its narrowest point, the Manín Gorge is considered the narrowest canyon in Slovakia. This has only been passable for vehicles since the blasting of a rock made it possible to build a road in the 1930s.

Because of the occurrence of rare plant and animal species, the Manín Gorge was placed under nature protection in 1967. Today it is part of the Strážovské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and connected to the Kostolec Gorge ( Kostolecká tiesňava ) southeast of Záskalie by an educational trail. Use by climbing is limited to two rock faces in the middle area of the gorge.
