Melda Akcan (born July 25, 1989 ) is a German Taekwondoin . It starts in the weight class up to 72 kilograms.
Akcan achieved her first international success in 2009. At the Universiade in Belgrade she reached the quarter-finals, at the Junior European Championship she won silver. The following year she won her first international title at the European Junior Championships, in the adult division she reached the quarter-finals at the European Championships in Saint Petersburg , where she was eliminated by Nuša Rajher . In 2011 Akcan started in Gyeongju for the first time in a world championship , but was eliminated in the round of 16 against Oh Hye-ri . She achieved her greatest sporting success so far at the 2012 European Championships in Manchester . With a victory over Elpida-Marina Dimitropoulou , she reached the semi-finals and won her first medal in the adult category with bronze.
In 2010 Akcan became German champion for the first time. She starts for the KSC Leopard association and studies international management at Ansbach University .
