Nikaidō made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup on December 18, 1988 in Sapporo . Already in his first competition he was able to win two World Cup points with 14th place. Since these were the only point wins in the 1988/89 season , he finished them in 64th place in the overall World Cup standings. In the following season he was able to increase this performance again and reached 60th place in the overall World Cup ranking. At the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund Nikaidō flew to 45th place. Nikaidō ended his active ski jumping career when he started at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme, where he jumped from the normal hill to 34th place.
