Manal Abdel Samad
Manal Abdel Samad Najd ( Arabic منال عبد الصمد, DMG Manāl ʿAbd aṣ-Ṣamad ; * 1975 ) is a Lebanese finance scientist. From January to August 2020 she was Minister of Information in the Diab cabinet .
Live and act
Manal Abdel Samad wrote her master's thesis in 2009 on the influence of public administration on tax revenues in Lebanon - an empirical approach . In another work, she dealt with tax reforms and the effects on the GCC states ( Tax Reforms: A Ripple Effect from Lebanon to the GCC States , 2017). Most recently, she was head of the VAT audit and tax refund department in the Ministry of Finance. In addition, she taught as a lecturer at universities in Lebanon.
As a representative of the Druze population, Abdel Samad has been Minister of Information in Hassan Diab's cabinet since January 21, 2020 .
On August 9, 2020, she announced her resignation after the protests following the explosion in the port of Beirut .
