The Mandolin Hills are a group of up to 300 m high Nunatakker in the northwestern Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . They tower 14 km east of Mount Noel in the Traverse Mountains .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them descriptively in 1977 because they are reminiscent of a mandolin .
