Mandrill (band)

Mandrill is an American band that in 1971 in Brooklyn ( New York City was founded) by the three brothers Louis, Richard and Carlos Wilson. Their repertoire ranges from Latin and Salsa to Blues and Jazz to Rock , Funk and Soul .

The Wilson brothers are from Panama . Mandrill's music has appeared on the soundtracks of several movies such as I'm the Greatest (1977) and The Warriors (1979). Samples from Mandrill pieces were later used by many hip-hop and rap musicians , and Prince named the song Fencewalk (1973) one of 55 songs that musically inspired him.

Today, in addition to the Wilson brothers, the group includes long-time band member Neftali Santiago and other changing musicians.
