Mandy Haberman

Mandy Nicola Haberman (* 1956 ) is an English inventor and entrepreneur . She is visiting professor at Bournemouth University , from which she was also awarded an honorary doctorate . Her most famous inventions are the Haberman Feeder and the Anywayup Cup .

Inventions

Haberman's third daughter was born in 1980 with Stickler's syndrome , which caused problems such as a cleft palate and thus problems with breastfeeding or sucking from a baby bottle .

That's why she invented the Haberman Feeder, a special feeding bottle for children with sucking problems. This invention is now used in hospitals around the world. The idea for her second invention, the Anywayup Cup, came to her while visiting a friend. Their baby drank from a sippy cup, but left traces of liquid in the apartment due to the rough handling of it - thanks to the special one-way valve of the Anywayup Cup, the bottle remains tight even when it is lying on its side or upside down. Millions of them are sold annually. The Anywayup Cup also received several awards for both innovation and design.

Awards

Haberman was awarded the British Female Inventor of the Year 2000 and Innovative Network (BFIIN) Female Inventor of the Year 2000 titles . It also won the DBA Design Effectiveness Award in the same year .
